The school boasts a beautiful dance studio. The dance programme offers Contemporary Dance, Hip-Hop, Traditional Dance and Fun Dance Fit. The learners are given the opportunity to perform at numerous dance showcases, youth festivals, eisteddfods and competitions. Our Hip Hop Crew have made it to Nationals this year, 2018.
The school has two fantastic SACEE debating teams. These teams compete throughout the year in various competitions.
Having won the prestigious RAPS competition in 2015 and placing second in 2016, Parktown prides itself on the high standard of drama maintained at the school. The drama group has won numerous awards for its workshoped plays and was invited to perform at the Grahamstown Arts Festival in 2016. Parktown shone at the All Girls' Festival in 2017 and won overall.
The school ensures that Parktown High School for Girls is represented at the annual Shakespeare Festival, the NEA and various school drama competitions. We also offer the Performing Arts Programme.
Each year the school puts on a major production which runs for a week. Here learners are given the opportunity to learn the art of acting, singing, dancing, producing, sound and lighting techniques, set design, stage management and make up. In the past few years, productions such as Alice in Wonderland, Annie, Nunsense, Grease, The Fantasticks and The Sound of Music have been successfully performed.
The school has a beginner, intermediate and advanced marimba band. The advanced marimba band takes part in the annual International Marimba Festival, the Tshwane Youth Arts Festival and the National Eisteddfod Academy.
At Parktown we offer an orchestra programme. Instruments taught are guitar, clarinet, flute, drums, saxophone and violin. Our music room was revamped in 2017 and our girls often collaborate with the Parktown Boys' Band.
The choir and traditional choir groups perform throughout the year at eisteddfods, choir competitions and choir festivals. The disciplined instruction and weekly practices have ensured a high standard of performance from both groups.
Other cultural activities include Pottery, Poetry, Public Speaking and Technical Theatre.
