ADMISSION PROCEDURE FOR GRADE 8 – 2025
Online applications (www.gdeadmissions.gov.za) for Grade 7 learners will go live on 11 July 2024 and will close on 12 August 2024.

Parents will be notified between 16 September 2024 – 11 October 2024 of successful/unsuccessful applications. Acceptance or rejection of the placement offer made must be done on the GDE admission portal, by the parent, within seven days of the offer being made.

NOTE: the application is made with a home address whereby a maximum of three schools may be chosen; thereafter, the system will allow you to choose other schools under a different criterion.

In addition, to the online application, we request that you complete the Grade 8_2025 Parent Information Form, including all requested documents. This form can be downloaded from the website. The completed form, together with all documents, must be delivered to security at the main gate of the school.

• The Parent Information Form may only be submitted during the official application period                                     
• No walk-in applications will be permitted at the school
• A step-by-step guide on how to use the admissions portal will be made available (on our website - www.parktowngirls.co.za) when we receive it from the Department of Education.
Additional Documents Required for Non-South African Citizens:
• A CERTIFIED copy of your daughter/ward’s valid passport
• A CERTIFIED copy of your daughter/ward’s valid study permit
• CERTIFIED copies of official permanent residence and study permit documents; diplomats to submit copies of passports and diplomatic identities

In terms of the GDE rules, placement will be executed in the following order:
1. All learners who LIVE in the feeder zone of the school
2. All learners who have siblings currently at the school OR who currently attend one of the school’s feeder primary schools
3. All learners whose parents/legal guardians (as recognised by SA law) WORK in the Feeder Zone of the School
4. Everybody else

You will receive offers to the schools at which your application has been successful, and you will be required to accept one of these offers within seven days of receiving the offer. If you have not received an offer from a school at which you applied, then your application may be deemed unsuccessful at your school of choice.

ADMISSION POLICY
The language of instruction at the school is English with the obvious exception of other languages offered as additional languages. It is in the best interests of the learner that they can cope in an English medium environment.
Priority will be given to learners whose parents/legal guardians (as recognised by SA law) comply in full with the Admission Procedure, submitting all documentation on time (in terms of the criteria listed above), until the school reaches capacity.

If space permits, following the application of the above criteria, preference will be given to learners who
• have strong academic ability to be able to cope with the high standards expected at the school
• have specialised skills or talents that the school has the potential to develop
• can cope in a traditional girl’s school environment.
Preference will also be given to those who
• have siblings who are either at the school or who are Old Girls of the school, or
• have a mother who is an Old Girl of the school, or
• have a brother at one of the local boys’ schools

APPLICATION DOCUMENTS
• The School Governing Body has resolved that the Headmistress will administer and decide on admission in accordance with the Department of Education’s Admission Policy and the SGB Admissions Policy.
• Residential address should be that of the parent or legal guardian. If the guardian is not the biological parent, proof of legal guardianship (as recognised by SA law), including a commitment to pay school fees, must accompany the application. The applicant must permanently reside at that address.
• Should the School become aware of any fraudulent documentation or information submitted, the application will immediately be disqualified and will not be considered.

ADMISSION PROCEDURE FOR GRADE 9 - 11 2025
 
The Grade 9 – 11 (2025) applications will be available on 11 July 2024 and will be administered directly through the school. Parents will be notified of the outcome by no later than 30 November 2024.
 
Applications will only be considered should the school have space in the particular grade applied for.
 
We request that you complete the Grade 9-11 Application Form which can be downloaded from the website. The completed form, together with all documents, must be delivered to security at the main gate of the school.
 
SUPPORTING DOCUMENTS
The following documents are required:

• Learner’s unabridged birth certificate
• Learner’s latest school report
• ID/Passport of both parents/guardians (where there are two parents/guardians)
• Proof of residence with whom the learner resides
• Proof of employment for both parents (where there are two parents/guardians)
• Passport size photo of learner

 
ADDITIONAL DOCUMENTS REQUIRED FOR NON-SOUTH AFRICAN CITIZENS

• A CERTIFIED copy of your daughter/ward’s valid passport
• A CERTIFIED copy of your daughter/ward’s valid study permit
• CERTIFIED copies of both Parent/Legal Guardian’s valid passport
• CERTIFIED copies of official permanent residence and study permit documents; diplomats to submit copies of passports and diplomatic identities

 On receipt of the application, with correct documentation, a waiting list number will be sent to the email address reflected on the application form.

• have a sibling at one of the local boys’ schools
